The short version
Earnie is a tool for parents to keep track of their kids' money. Earnie does not hold, move, or have access to any real money or bank accounts. We collect only what we need to run the app, we never sell your information, and you can delete your account at any time.
Who we are
Earnie is operated from La Crete, Alberta, Canada. In this policy, “Earnie,” “we,” and “us” mean the people who run Earnie, and “you” means the parent or caregiver who uses it.

What we collect
Information you give us
Account details: your email address and password (stored encrypted), or your basic Google profile if you sign in with Google.
Family records you enter: your kids' names or nicknames, Give / Grow / Spend balances, transactions and notes, spend goals, allowance and interest settings, and your time zone. You choose what to enter. We suggest using a first name or nickname.
Messages and feedback: anything you send us by email or through the in-app feedback and ideas features.
Billing
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep your subscription status, plan, and billing dates so the app knows what you have access to.
Information collected automatically
Usage analytics: we use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to understand how Earnie is used, such as which screens are visited and when features like “add money” are used. We do not send your kids' names, amounts, or notes to our analytics tools, and typed input is hidden in session recordings.
Where you came from: if you arrive from an ad or a link, we may record the source (for example, “instagram”) with your account so we know which marketing works.
Basic technical data: like browser type, device type, and approximate location from your IP address, which our hosting and analytics providers collect as a normal part of running a website.
How we use it
We use your information to run Earnie and keep your family's records in sync across your devices; to process subscriptions; to send you account emails (like sign-in, password reset, and billing notices); to send occasional product emails, such as tips and trial reminders, which you can unsubscribe from at any time; to answer your questions; and to improve the app.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising profiles. We do not show ads inside Earnie.
Children
Earnie accounts are for parents and caregivers only. Children do not create accounts or sign in, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Any information about a child is entered and controlled by their parent or caregiver, who can edit or delete it at any time.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Earnie, and only what they need:
Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website and app hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), PostHog and Vercel Analytics (usage analytics), and Google (if you choose Google sign-in).
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our users or Earnie.
Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of those countries.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. If your subscription ends, your records stay available to you in read-only mode until you ask us to delete them. When you delete your account, we delete your family records, except anything we must keep for legal, tax, or accounting reasons (such as payment records held by Stripe).
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your family's records in the app at any time. You can unsubscribe from product emails using the link in any of them.
You can delete your account yourself in the app under Settings → Family settings → Delete account. This cancels any subscription first, so you won't be charged again. To get a copy of your information or correct it, or if you'd rather we delete it for you, email howdy@tryearnie.com.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections, and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your family's information safe.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app.
